This fascinating documentary follows piano tuner, Stephan Knüpfer, as he works to match world-class pianists with the right instrument. Not only does he fine-tune the instrument, he creatively collaborates closely with the musician to find the right tone and timbre of sound. This involves attention to painstakingly exquisite details, including not only the piano itself, but the acoustics and temperature of the concert venue or recording studio.
Among his most famous clients are Lang Lang, Alfred Brendel, Rudolf Buchbinder and Pierre-Laurent Aimard.
The main odyssey and focus of the film is the year long preparation required for Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s recording J.S. Bach’s "Art of the Fugue.“ Knüpfer aproaches this and all of his tasks with an obssessive determination to achieve the perfect bond between performer and piano yet maintains lightness with a strong sense of humour. A rare, elegant and detailed look at the world behind the performance whether live or recorded.

Ce documentaire fascinant suit l’accordeur de piano, Stephan Knüpfer, comme il travaille pour accorder les pianistes de calibre mondial  avec le bon instrument. Non seulement qu’il règle l'instrument minutieusement, il collabore de prés d’une façon créative avec le musicien afin de trouver le ton et le timbre du son qui convient. Cela implique de détails laborieusement exquis, y compris non seulement le piano lui-même, mais l'acoustique et la température soit de la salle de concert ou le studio d'enregistrement.

L'Odyssée principale et concentration du film est la préparation d’une année requise pour  l'enregistrement de «L’Art de la Fugue» de J.S. Bach du pianiste  Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Knüpfer abordes cela et de toutes ses tâches avec une détermination obsessionnelle qui pour atteindre la liaison parfait   entre l'interprète et son piano met maintient la légèreté avec un sens solide de l'humour. Un regard rare, élégant et détaillé sur  le monde derrière la performance soit en direct ou enregistré.
