Livingstone-Tellier is a guitar duo consisting of Dan Livingstone (ragtime, North Mississippi blues) and Stéphane Tellier (swing, gypsy jazz) that takes the audience deep into the heart of the roots of swing. Both played fast and furious often sounding like Dueling Banjos for guitars, exhilarating and entertaining.

Livingstone-Tellier est un duo de guitares composé de Dan Livingstone (ragtime, blues du Mississippi du Nord) et Stéphane Tellier (swing, jazz manouche) qui amène le spectateur au cœur des racines de swing. Tous les deux jouait rapidement et furieux souvent sonnant comme Dueling Banjos pour guitares, exaltante et divertissant.

 Leon Redbone was born 1949 in Cyprus as Dickran Gobalian (according to the many rumours). He is a singer and guitarist specializing in interpretations of early 20^th century music (jazz, blues and Tin Pan Alley). Wearing his trademark Panama hat, dark sunglasses and bow tie, Redbone encouraged the audience to sing along with his gravelly raspy voice.  Warm and witty with a sense of mysteriousness, he injected the show with plenty of humor often pretending to forget the melody or the lyrics or bantering with the two wonderful musicians (Paul Asaro on piano and ? on guitar) who accompanied him.  The show bordered on parody and reminded me a little of Spike Jones especially in his rendition of ‘The Sheik of Araby’.

 Leon Redbone est né 1949 à Chypre comme Dickran Gobalian (d'après les nombreuses rumeurs). Il est un chanteur et guitariste spécialisé dans les interprétations de la musique du début du XXe siècle (jazz, blues et Tin Pan Alley). Portant sa marque d’un Chapeau Panama, des lunettes de soleil foncées et un nœud papillon, Redbone encouragé le public à chanter avec sa voix râpeux et graveleux.  Chaleureux et plein d'esprit avec un sentiment de mystère, il a injecte le spectacle avec beaucoup d'humour souvent faire semblant d'avoir oublié la mélodie ou paroles ou goguenard avec les deux musiciens merveilleux (Paul Asaro au piano et ? à la guitare) qui l'accompagnait.  Le spectacle bordée sur parodie et m'a rappelé un peu de Spike Jones notamment dans son interprétation de "Le Sheik d’Arabie".

Alexandra Sicotte-Lévesque

 

Cinéaste, journaliste et agent de développement d’origine Canadienne avec plus de 10 ans d'expérience sur le continent Africain. Actuellement un spécialiste pour le plaidoyer et de la communication à la Fond des Nations Unis pour la Population, basé à New York. 

En 2002, elle a cofondé Journalistes pour les Droits Humains (JDH), une ONG de mobilisation des médias Africains pour étendre la sensibilisation sur les droits de l'homme. 

Baccalauréat ès Arts du Collège Vassar, États-Unis (2000) ; Maîtrise ès sciences en droits de l'homme de la London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Royaume-Uni  (2005).

Canadian filmmaker, journalist and development worker with over 10 years experience on the African continent; currently an advocacy and communications specialist at the United Nations Population Fund based in New York City. 

In 2002, she co-founded Journalists for Human Rights (JHR), an NGO mobilizing African media to spread awareness about human rights. 

Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College, USA (2000); Masters of Science in Human Rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK (2005).

À Jamais Pour Toujours / The Longest Kiss, 2013, 74m

Un groupe diversifié de jeunes hommes et femmes Soudanais, parvenant du Nord, du Sud, de Darfour et d’autres régions, donner voix quant à leurs préoccupations, leurs espoirs et leurs rêves et un endroit pour appeler « Chez-soi » car ils doivent faire face à la inévitablement de la fragmentation. Combinant les témoignages personnels de ces personnes ainsi que le reportage et l'histoire culturelle, le cinéaste a peint avec succès un portrait intime des problèmes du Soudan.

A diverse group of young Sudanese men and women from North, South, Darfour and other regions, give voice as to their concerns, hopes and dreams and a place to call ‘Home’ as they face the inevitability of fragmentation.  Combining the personal testimonies of these individuals along with reportage and cultural history, the filmmaker has successfully painted an intimate portrait of Sudan’s problems.

Une autre film soulevant la conscience, documente sur la lutte entre les gens ordinaires et la cupidité des entreprises; Cette fois, les effets sur le village de Dumasi, au Ghana, de l’exploitation à ciel ouvert pour l'or par une entreprise Canadienne. Malgré les efforts du gouvernement pour les réduire aux silence, les résidents de Dumasi ne peuvent pu masquer leur colère.  Ils expriment leurs griefs avec empressement.

Another conscience raising film documenting the struggle between ordinary people and corporate greed; this time the effects on the village of Dumasi, Ghana by a Canadian company strip mining for gold. Despite the government’s efforts to silence them, the residents of Dumasi can no longer hide their anger. They eagerly express their grievances.
