Araucana, Blood and Vigour / Araucana, de Sève et de Sang
Pre-festival benefit concert featuring Quebec guitar ensemble ‘Forestare.’ The first part of the concert was a 45m work in 8 movements for guitar and double bass inspired by a 16th century epic poem by Alonso de Falla. The work is by Chilean composer Javier Farías. The poem is a tribute to the Mapuche’s resolve against the Spanish conquistadors. The work was interpolated with narration in French. The second half of the concert featured works by Quebec First Nation composers including Atikamekw composer Pascal Quoquochi Sassevile.

In their traditions the Peyote is their source of knowledge.
