Bauhaus: Model and Myth, Germany 1998-2009, 103m, Niels Bolbrinker, Kirsten Stutterheim

An academic and professionally researched film that reveals the real story behind the 20^th century’s most important school of art, design, and architecture. The school was founded in 1919 and its goal was to create a new aesthetic that reconciled arts and crafts, that both should be practical and useful.

 Un film intellectuel et bien documenté qui révèle la véritable histoire derrière l'école le plus important du XXe siècle pour l'art, design et architecture. L'école a été fondée en 1919 et son but était de créer une nouvelle esthétique qui rapprochés des arts et métiers, que les deux devraient être pratique et utile.

La Brique Lego, France 2009, 26m, Anna-Célia Kendall

Un film de type essai délicieux explorant le phénomène culturel International de la brique Lego (Danois – leg godt, qui signifie littéralement « qui ce joue bien »).  Inventé en 1949 par l'inventeur Danois, Ole Kirk Christiansen, ce jouet éternel, utilise les unités en plastique modulaires de verrouillage dans un interminable nombre de façons.

A delightful essay-type film exploring the International cultural phenomenon of the Lego (Danish – leg godt which literally means ‘play well’) Block.  Invented in 1949 by Danish inventor, Ole Kirk Christiansen, this timeless toy utilises modular plastic units that interlock in a seemingly endless number of ways.

Cab Calloway, France 2010, 54m, Gail Levin

This  portrait of inimitable jazzman and bandleader, Cab Calloway (1907-1994), combines  archival material in his heyday in the 30s and 40s to his resurgence with “The Blues Brothers” (includes memorable performances of such classic songs as 'Minnie the Moocher' and ‘Smokey Joe’) with personal accounts from his relatives, former band members and jazz historians.

 Ce portrait de jazzman inimitable et chef d'orchestre, Cab Calloway (1907-1994), combine des matériel archiva à son apogée des années 1930 et 1940 à sa résurgence avec «The Blues Brothers» (comprend des performances mémorables des chansons classiques comme 'Minnie the Moocher' et 'Smokey Joe') avec des comptes personnels de ses proches, anciens membres de son orchestre  et les historiens jazz.

Charlie Haden: Rambling Boy, Switzerland 2009, 84m, Reto Caduff

Born in 1937, bassist and bandleader Charlie Haden has been a leading influence in Jazz for over 60 years. This film traces his evolution from his ‘bluegrass’ roots when at two years of age he participated in his parents radio show on a local country music station to his status as one of the most lyrical and melodic bassist in the world of jazz today.

Né en 1937, le bassiste et chef d'orchestre Charlie Haden a été une influence de premiers plan dans le monde du Jazz pour plus de 60 ans. Ce film retrace son évolution de ses racines « bluegrass » quand à l'âge de deux ans il a participé à son émission de radio de parents sur une station locale de musique country à son statut comme l'un des plus lyriques et mélodique bassiste dans le monde du jazz aujourd'hui.

Music video combines a haunting score by Swiss composer Luigi Quadranti with picture cycle “Ciclo Del Nirvana” by Italian painter Giovanni Segantini (1858-1899). The cycle was based on themes inspired by 17^th Century poems “The Punishment of Luxury” and “Unnatural mothers.”
