Imagine if many of the major composers from Beethoven to Bernstein and passing through Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Ravel and many more had lived through the 1970s. They would have presented shows in same vein as Pink Floyd, ELP, Genesis etcetera. By combining some of the greatest works of classical music with the scenery and staging of a rock concert, Amplified Concert comes very close to making that musical fantasy a reality. Held at the Bell Centre, I literally felt as if I had gone to  a concert put on by one of the major progressive groups that I grew up with in the 70s (most of whom I have never seen in concert ). The lighting was spectacular and in sync. The sound was ‘state-of-the-art. All-in-all, it deepened my appreciation of the musical geniuses that preceded those that I grew up with and those that have succeeded them (Dream Theater, Steven Wilson, Flower Kings, etcetera). It also strongly suggests that nothing pertaining to humanity is truly isolated and on its own – all things are one.
