Festivalissimo 2011

The 16th annual rendezvous for cinéphiles and lovers of Latin culture takes place this year from May 18th till June 05th 2011. Twenty-eight films (Twenty-six of which are premieres) from twelve countries, will be presented at the National Film Board (N.F.B. 1564 St Denis) with the opening film – “The Life of Fish” by Matías Bize from Chile – at the Imperial, 1430 de Bleury on May 18th 07:00pm. Two other films by this director will also be presented: 2003’s “Sabado” and 2005’s “In Bed.” Fifteen films make up the ‘official selection.’
  The five films in the ‘Panorama’ section propose to offer a reflection of Latin American society both past and present. Vox Populi gives us four works in a refreshingly popular flavour. Of note is Amor y Frijoles (Love and Beans) by Mathew Kodath is only the fifth feature film in the history of Honduras.
The closing film is “La Vida Útil” (A Useful Life) from Uruguay by Federico Vieroj.
From May 30th till June 2nd from noon until 2pm all are invited as some of Montreal’s best dance schools will offer workshops and performances. Alexis Nihon Plaza (1500 Atwater Avenue) will host these events.
After the phenomenal success of last year’s outdoor program, Festivalissimo returns this year with La Fiesta Latina on the weekend of June 3rd, 4th and 5th with workshops from 12 noon until 6pm followed by concerts until 11pm. Friday will be Tango, Saturday Salsa and Sunday  (noon till 9pm) traditional folklore from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Cuba.  As well one may savour Latin cuisine whilst interacting with authentic cultural characters. The location of this fiesta is Cabot Park on the corner of Atwater and St Catherine.

Le 16e rendez-vous annuel pour les cinéphiles et les amateurs de culture Latine aura lieu cette année du 18 Mai jusqu'en 05 Juin 2011. Vingt-huit films (donc vingt-six qui seront présentés en première) de douze pays, sera présenté à L’Office Nationale du Film (1564 O.N.F. St Denis) avec le film d'ouverture – « La Vie des Poissons » par Matías Bize du Chili – à l'impérial, 1430 Rue de Bleury le 18 mai a 19h. Deux autres films par ce réalisateur seront également présentées: de 2003, «Sabado » et de 2005 «En La Cama.» Quinze films composent la 'sélection officielle".
 Les cinq films dans la sélection «Panorama» proposent d'offrir un reflet de la société Latino-Américaine, passé et présent. Vox Populi nous donne quatre œuvres dans une saveur rafraîchissante et populaire. À noter est que le film «Amor y Frijoles (L’Amour et Haricots)» par Mathew Kodath est seulement le cinquième long métrage dans l'histoire de l’Honduras. Le film de clôture est « La Vida Útil (Une Vie Utile) » de l'Uruguay réalisé par Federico Vieroj.
Du 30 mai jusqu'en 2 Juin, à partir de midi jusqu'à 14h, tous sont invités comme certaines des meilleures écoles de danse de Montréal offrira des ateliers et spectacles. La Place Alexis Nihon  (1500 L’Avenue Atwater) sera l'hôte pour ces événements.
Après le succès phénoménal de la programmation en plein air l’an dernière année, Festivalissimo revient cette année avec La Fiesta Latina pour la fin de semaine de 3, 4 et 5 de Juin avec des ateliers de midi jusqu'à 18h suivie par des concerts jusqu'à 23h.Le Vendredi sera consacre au Tango, le Samedi au Salsa et le Dimanche (midi à 21h) au folklore traditionnel du Mexique, Brésil, Argentine et Cuba.  Ainsi on peut savourer de la cuisine Latinos et tout ca en interagissant avec les caractères authentiques de la culture. L'emplacement de cette fiesta est le Parc Cabot situe au coin de Atwater et Sainte-Catherine.
